Kurzbeschreibung

Led by the IFRC with German Red Cross (GRC), Croatian Red Cross (CRC) and Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC), this action will facilitate integration of refugees and asylum seekers through providing post-arrival support for persons in need of international protection. Many people who are relocated within the EU or resettled from a third country lack basic accurate information about their new country and their rights and duties, have little or no knowledge of the local language, and have often had their education or employment disrupted, leading to isolation and anxiety, or to unrealistic expectations which quickly turn into dissatisfaction. The action will address these needs through providing tailored accessible information which builds on pre-departure activities, delivering skills and language training, support in accessing education and employment (with specific activities for women and children), engagement with host communities to foster acceptance, participation in the volunteering sector, and sensitisation and training for service providers and authorities. Direct beneficiaries will be resettled and relocated people in Germany, Croatia and Bulgaria, local communities and service providers who often lack knowledge of the needs of beneficiaries, leading to inadequate support. It is challenging to predict the numbers of beneficiaries due to uncertainty over actual relocation and resettlement numbers during the timeframe, however the action will target as a minimum 18,000 refugees and asylum seekers as well as 38 service providers and authorities. Activities will be scalable and adaptable to local needs and context. In the medium term, Red Cross Societies and other agencies working on integration will benefit from common methods and tools developed, shared and adapted. A potential wider impact is the creation of a more welcoming environment and more effective integration of third country nationals in Europe.
